Dongdaemun-gu Mayor Ilhyeong Lee leads integrity education as an instructor to foster an honest organizational culture
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) conducted anti-corruption and integrity training for all employees on the 25th at the multipurpose auditorium on the 2nd floor of Dongdaemun-gu Office to eradicate power abuse and spread anti-corruption awareness.
The district implemented this training to share with employees the importance of proactive efforts by all members of the organization for integrity to take root in the public service and to provide an opportunity to strengthen their commitment to practice it.
This anti-corruption and integrity training was delivered by Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, and Jeong Young-ja, a professional instructor from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission Integrity Training Institute. Mayor Lee Pil-hyung explained the virtues of integrity that current public officials should practice by citing examples from the lives of Joseon Dynasty public officials such as Yulgok Yi I and Admiral Yi Sun-sin. Furthermore, by diagnosing the current state of Dongdaemun-gu, he urged employees to have a commitment to integrity and to handle their duties in compliance with laws and principles to eradicate corruption within the organization.
Professional instructor Jeong Young-ja, under the theme of “A Happy Story of Integrity,” explained prohibited acts under the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act and the standards for sanctions in case of violations, and lectured on compliance with the Code of Conduct for Public Officials through major violation cases. She emphasized that integrity is not a choice but a necessity for a fair society and concluded the lecture on a bright note by delivering the message that practicing integrity can make everyone happy.
Ahead of this Chuseok holiday, the district sent an “Integrity Letter” to employees, expressing the will to build a Dongdaemun-gu trusted by its residents.
