DMZ Open International Music Festival Opens in Goyang on November 4

View original imageThe highest-level classical concert in Korea, themed around the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), the world's only divided area in the Republic of Korea, will be held in Goyang this November.
Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization announced on the 25th that the 'DMZ OPEN International Music Festival,' featuring top domestic and international artists, will take place at the Aram Music Hall in Goyang Aram Nuri from November 4 to 11.
The festival will feature baritone Kim Tae-han, winner of the vocal category at the Queen Elizabeth Competition; Roman Federico, first prize winner of the Horowitz International Piano Competition; Han Jae-min (cello), winner of the Yoon Isang International Music Competition; and Kim Eun-chae, winner of the Carl Flesch International Violin Competition.
Also performing will be Dmytro Choni (piano), Anna Genyusene (piano), Park Hye-ji (percussion), Lim Hee-young (cello), Lim Mi-jung (piano), and Korea's leading symphony orchestras including the KBS Symphony Orchestra, Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra, and Gwacheon City Symphony Orchestra. The overall planning of the international music festival is led by Artistic Director Lim Mi-jung.
At the opening concert on November 4, the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra and Roman Federico will premiere the commissioned piece for the 'DMZ OPEN International Music Festival,' titled 'Healing Light' (composed by Kim Shin).
The November 5 performance, themed 'Cinema Concert' based on film music, will feature the Gwacheon City Symphony Orchestra and Kim Eun-chae. The closing concert on November 11 will be the finale with the KBS Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Chung Myung-whun), Kim Tae-han, and Han Jae-min. Additionally, on both the opening and closing days, a symposium in the form of a talk concert will be held to discuss DMZ, music, and peace.
This international music festival is the highlight and closing performance of the DMZ comprehensive festival 'DMZ OPEN Festival,' which carries the theme 'Open DMZ, Greater Peace.'
Artistic Director Lim Mi-jung, who is also the general director of the DMZ OPEN Festival, said, "This music festival will help broaden understanding of humanity and peace beyond the dark history of the DMZ," and added, "We hope you join the footsteps of peace with these young masters."
Tickets for the music festival will be available for purchase from the evening of the 25th on the Goyang Aram Nuri website and Interpark. All proceeds will be donated.

Ticket prices are 50,000 KRW, 40,000 KRW, and 20,000 KRW by grade for the opening day, and 80,000 KRW, 50,000 KRW, 40,000 KRW, and 30,000 KRW for the closing day.
