Exclusive Benefits for Hydrogen Passenger Car Users... Changwon Tunnel Hydrogen Charging Station Opens
Changwon Special City to Begin Operations from the 25th
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced that it has completed the construction of the 11th hydrogen refueling station in Changwon, the Changwon Tunnel Hydrogen Refueling Station, and will begin operations on the 25th.
The Changwon Tunnel Hydrogen Refueling Station was built exclusively for hydrogen passenger cars at the entrance of the Changwon Tunnel in the Jangyu direction, which offers excellent accessibility. There is no inconvenience of long waiting times for hydrogen bus refueling or having to go to other stations, and with the installation of two refueling facilities, simultaneous refueling is possible. Hydrogen vehicle users can receive refueling services quickly, just like using a regular gas station.
As a special hydrogen industry city, Changwon operates the largest number of hydrogen refueling stations nationwide, with 11 stations. Next year, along with the completion of a hydrogen refueling station for freight trucks at Jinhae New Port, the city plans to establish a liquefied hydrogen refueling station for large-capacity commercial vehicles.
The hydrogen vehicle adoption rate is also the highest in the country, with 1,548 vehicles. Changwon is working to expand the adoption of hydrogen vehicles mainly for commercial vehicles with high environmental impact by increasing the replacement of city buses and garbage trucks with hydrogen vehicles and converting commuting buses of local companies to hydrogen buses.
With stable hydrogen supply through production infrastructure such as the Changwon hub-type hydrogen production base and hydrogen liquefaction plant, along with abundant refueling infrastructure, it is expected that the city will accelerate the spread of hydrogen vehicles.
In addition, by applying high-performance refueling systems from local hydrogen specialized companies, it is believed that Changwon is seeing the fruits of its efforts to revitalize the regional economy through fostering the hydrogen industry.
