President Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife Kim Keon-hee visited the Paldo Market operating for Chuseok at Yongsan Children's Garden on the 24th, communicating with children and encouraging merchants.
The presidential office spokesperson Lee Do-woon conveyed in a written briefing that the presidential couple visited the 'Chuseok Paldo Market' held at Yongsan Children's Garden that morning.
The presidential couple first visited traditional play experience booths such as rice cake pounding and tuho, enjoying traditional games with children while asking if they often come to Yongsan Children's Garden and how they plan to spend this holiday. They also took photos one by one with children who visited the market with their parents at the Paldo Market.
The presidential couple then visited a win-win booth where large corporations and small business owners collaborate to continue successful startup cases, encouraging young merchants. They received explanations about the manufacturing method of Yeoju rice macarons developed by a young local creator from Yeoju. A local creator refers to an entrepreneur who creates business value by combining innovative ideas based on the unique characteristics and resources of a region, such as its natural environment and cultural assets.
They also listened to explanations about Okcheon pumpkin latte and Gongju chestnut latte, developed in collaboration with Starbucks and small business owners, and personally tasted the pumpkin latte.
The presidential couple then moved to a market selling excellent local agricultural and specialty products, purchasing a variety of nationwide Chuseok seasonal goods such as dried pollack from Gangwon, peaches from Chungju, dried persimmons from Sangju, abalone from Wando, and silver hairtail from Jeju.
At the Jeonnam Fisheries Cooperative booth, President Yoon encouraged on-site merchants, saying, "Wando has produced a lot of wealth as it began full-scale production of seaweed and abalone."
Labor Jin, chairman of the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives, expressed gratitude, saying, "Sales have increased significantly since the president visited the Noryangjin fish market." Lee Jae-sik, vice chairman of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, also shared the festive sales atmosphere, saying, "Ahead of Chuseok, not only seafood but also fruits like apples and meats are selling well."
Afterwards, they moved to the food market and had a conversation while eating simple holiday foods such as Bindaetteok, Songpyeon, and Sikhye at Gwangjang Market with a mother and her elementary school twin children living in Gaepo-dong. During the meal, nearby children approached and greeted the presidential couple and even touched their pet dogs, Saerom and Sunny.
