Three Gyeonggi-do Managed Private Roads Toll-Free During Chuseok Holiday
Three privately operated roads managed by Gyeonggi Province will waive toll fees from midnight on the 28th of this month until midnight on the 1st of next month in celebration of the Chuseok holiday.
On the 24th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will not collect toll fees during this period on three roads it manages: the Seosuwon~Uiwang Expressway, the 3rd Gyeongin Expressway, and the Ilsan Bridge.
This measure follows the central government's decision on the 31st of last month at the Emergency Economic and Livelihood Meeting to waive expressway tolls during the Chuseok holiday as part of the 'Chuseok Livelihood Stabilization Measures.'
Gyeonggi Province explained that it decided to offer free passage to provide convenience to users, considering the connectivity with government-operated expressways.
The usage method remains the same: vehicles equipped with Hi-Pass should use the Hi-Pass lanes, and regular vehicles should pass through the toll booths.
The toll fees for the privately operated roads where free passage will be implemented during this Chuseok holiday are 1,200 KRW for the Ilsan Bridge, 900 KRW for the Seosuwon~Uiwang Expressway, and 2,300 KRW for using the entire section of the 3rd Gyeongin Expressway, based on passenger cars.
Gyeonggi Province expects that approximately 1.55 million vehicles will benefit from the free tolls during this period, with 530,000 on the Seosuwon~Uiwang Expressway, 740,000 on the 3rd Gyeongin Expressway, and 280,000 on the Ilsan Bridge, similar to last year's Chuseok holiday period.
Since the 2017 Lunar New Year, Gyeonggi Province has implemented a toll waiver policy during the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays. The policy was suspended starting from the 2020 Lunar New Year in line with the government's social distancing measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic but was reinstated from the 2022 Chuseok holiday.
