On the 22nd at 2 p.m., Busan City held the ‘2023 2nd Medi-Storming Research Meeting’ at the Crystal Room on the 2nd floor of Hotel Nongshim in Busan.

The event was organized as part of the ‘Medical ICT Convergence Center Network Exchange Support Project’ by the Busan Economic Promotion Agency and was co-hosted by the Digital Healthcare Industry Association and the National Institute for Mathematical Sciences.

Medi-Storming is a compound word combining Medical and Brainstorming.

The ‘Medi-Storming Research Meeting’ is an event where industry, academia, research, hospitals, and government gather to exchange ideas and related information to revitalize the digital healthcare industry.

It promotes ▲ information exchange between medical and industrial sectors ▲ sharing of the latest issues such as government policy trends and technology development status, as well as future core technologies ▲ and building networks between medical and various industries.

At the first research meeting held in June, lectures were given on the themes of ‘The Present and Future of Smart Hospitals’ and ‘Current Status and Development Direction of Busan’s Biohealth Industry,’ and three thematic subcommittees were formed to gather opinions on the future operation direction of the research meetings.

At this research meeting, starting with a keynote lecture by Professor Shin Myung-jun of Busan National University Hospital titled ‘Medical Device Development from Start to Finish from a Doctor’s Perspective,’ discussions and information exchanges were held through thematic subcommittees on ▲ biometric data analysis monitoring ▲ software (SW) technology in the medical field ▲ and smart hospital linkage technology.

About 50 participants from various fields attended, including university hospitals such as Busan National University Hospital, Dong-A University Hospital, Inje University Busan Paik Hospital, and Kosin University Gospel Hospital; major universities such as Dongseo University, Dong-A University, and Busan National University; healthcare companies; and information and communication technology (ICT) companies.

The city plans to hold the 3rd Medi-Storming Research Meeting in October to collect ideas, technology exchange information, and difficulties and suggestions from participating entities derived from previous meetings, and then share them at the annual performance report meeting of the Medical ICT Convergence Center in December.

Lee Kyung-deok, Director of the Future Industry Bureau of the city, stated, “To keep pace with the rapidly changing market trends of the digital healthcare industry, joint cooperation among various institutions such as companies, hospitals, and universities is very important,” and added, “Our city will actively support the Medi-Storming Research Meeting to establish itself as an industry-academia-research-hospital-government exchange platform for revitalizing the digital healthcare industry.”
