Continuing Tradition and Embracing the Future at Gyodong Son Byeongsun Overpass
Miryang City in Gyeongnam will hold the Dalbit Pungnyu performance of the ‘2023 Gotaek Jonggatjip Utilization Project’ at 7:30 PM on the 22nd at the Gyodong Son Byeongsun Old House.
This performance consists of Park Daesung-style Ajaeng Sanjo, the scene of Sim Bongsa opening his eyes from Simcheongga, Sung Geumyeon-style Gayageum Sanjo, Heungtaryeong, Yukjabaegi, and more. It will present an elegant feast of traditional Korean music, allowing the audience to fully immerse themselves in the charm of gugak.
The Gotaek Jonggatjip Utilization Project is hosted by Miryang City, organized by Munhwa Nanum, and sponsored by the Cultural Heritage Administration. It aims to enhance the usability of traditional houses for the preservation and revitalization of local culture, and to be a sustainable project where local residents and tourists can participate together.
A city official stated, “We hope that on this deepening autumn night, people can enjoy a gugak performance, which is not easily accessible in daily life, in the quiet old house and have an opportunity to appreciate culture.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to hold diverse performances so that citizens and tourists can experience differentiated cultural arts.”
