On the 19th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 20th that it held a symposium at Seoul City Hall on the theme of 'Development Direction of Moa Housing and Moa Town Policies' in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Architects.
On the 19th, at the multipurpose hall on the 8th floor of the new Seoul City Hall building, Yoo Chang-soo, Deputy Mayor for Administration of Seoul, delivered a congratulatory speech at a symposium hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Korea Institute of Architects on the theme of "Development Directions for Moa Housing and Moa Town Policies."

The symposium was attended by over 300 people including representatives from Seoul City, autonomous districts, Seoul Metropolitan Council, the Korea Institute of Architects, experts from various fields, students, and citizens.
Moa Town is a new redevelopment method aimed at improving the poor residential environment of aging low-rise residential areas where newly built and old buildings coexist, making large-scale redevelopment difficult. Currently, 70 sites in 24 autonomous districts have been selected as Moa Town target areas, and management plans have been completed and are being implemented.
Moa Housing is a small-scale housing maintenance project promoted with various relaxation benefits, and since the announcement of the Moa Housing policy, a total of 103 sites have established associations and are moving forward.
The symposium’s keynote presentations were given by Ha-Young Kim, an architecture student at Soongsil University, So-Young Han, an architecture student at Hannam University, who won the grand prize in the university and graduate school category of the ‘1st University Cooperation Moa Housing and Moa Town Project’ held last month, along with Jin-Wook Kim, CEO of Yeji Corporation, and In-Jeong Ryu, CEO of Dosiryu Corporation.
In particular, as a case applying the draft guidelines to strengthen Moa Housing design, presentations were made on the pilot area of Moa Town in Myeonmok-dong and Moa Housing within Moa Town in Siheung 3-dong, raising expectations that Moa Housing will play a significant role in improving residential landscape through innovative design in the future.
The draft Moa Housing design guidelines include ▲building arrangement considering urban context ▲diversification of spatial composition such as open and green spaces, street spaces, and three-dimensional spaces ▲innovative design applications including facade planning, balcony design, and unit dwelling specialization.
During the comprehensive discussion, various opinions were presented including ▲holding outreach symposiums to help residents understand for the activation of Moa Housing and Moa Town ▲seeking consent only for the changed parts when changing the project implementation area to shorten the project period ▲relaxation of consent requirements for resident proposals in Moa Town ▲expansion of loan support such as initial project funds.
