Illegal Fishing Crackdown for 3 Weeks to Stabilize the Saemin Economy
Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Kim Hae-cheol) announced on the 20th that it will conduct a special crackdown on crimes infringing on people's livelihoods for three weeks from the 18th of last month to the 6th of next month, anticipating an increase in seafood distribution ahead of Chuseok.
The main crackdown targets include △intrusion theft in village fishing grounds and aquaculture farms △advance payment fraud △illegal fishing △illegal modification and expansion of fishing vessels △false labeling of seafood origin, etc.
In particular, they plan to carry out focused criminal activities during vulnerable hours such as nighttime at ports and harbors, as well as joint land and sea crackdowns involving maritime and criminal investigation personnel and criminal mobile patrol boats.
