Min Hyung-bae: "Lee Should Confidently Undergo Warrant Hearing? It Gives Legitimacy to the Prosecution"

"The Situation of Lee Jae-myung's Arrest Motion Passing Is Unnecessary"
Min Hyung-bae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, argued that the ruling party's demand for Lee Jae-myung to "confidently undergo the warrant hearing" in relation to the prosecution's request for his arrest warrant "would legitimize the prosecution's actions."
On the 19th, Min appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and said that the situation where Lee undergoes the warrant hearing occurs only if the National Assembly passes the arrest consent bill. He added, "Then the prosecution would have no burden at all," and said, "It creates a political prejudice of 'Did the National Assembly approve it?' Such an act itself is unnecessary."

He added, "They say if the warrant hearing results in dismissal and he comes out, isn't that being upright? But that's not a matter of uprightness."
Regarding the atmosphere within the party ahead of the vote on the arrest consent bill for Lee, Min said, "The justification for rejection has become so strong that even those who might have thought 'approve it' find it difficult to hold that view," and added, "There is a lot of talk about rejection."
In response to Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon's remark during the previous day, when Lee was transported to the hospital due to health deterioration, that "If a precedent is set where the judicial system stops because of a hunger strike and self-harm, then petty criminals will do the same in the future," Min criticized it as "rude and reckless."
Min said, "That person (Minister Han) has done that very often. Since it's just political language, we don't think there's a need to respond," and added, "At first, he seemed bright and young, so I thought he might do something, but lately, to put it in my words, he has lost his touch," reiterating his criticism.

Regarding the timing of Lee's cessation of his hunger strike, he said, "Lee said, 'If I wanted to cover it up again, I wouldn't have dug into it,'" and added, "Since his will is not broken at all, as long as he is conscious, he will not stop for health reasons."
