Health Insurance Coverage from Day of Entry... Simplified Reporting for Suspension of Insurance Benefits Lift
The National Health Insurance Service announced on the 18th that it has improved its services to allow direct reporting of benefit suspension cancellation (entry) through its mobile application and website. Until now, according to Article 54 of the National Health Insurance Act, insurance benefits were suspended during overseas stays, so if medical treatment was needed on the day of entry, the insured had to report the cancellation of benefit suspension by submitting entry documents to the NHIS (via visit or phone) to receive treatment.
The NHIS improved the service to alleviate subscribers' inconvenience. Even if the entry report is not made on the day of entry, from the day after the entry date, the NHIS will process the benefit suspension cancellation (entry) using immigration data from the Ministry of Justice, allowing medical treatment at hospitals and clinics.
