Kim Chang-beom, Former Ambassador to Indonesia, Appointed as New Full-time Vice Chairman
The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) has officially changed its name to the Korea Economic Association (KEA) and appointed former Ambassador to Indonesia Kim Chang-beom as the new full-time Vice Chairman.
On the 18th, KEA announced that it had received approval from the competent authority (Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy) for the amendment of its articles of incorporation, including the name change, making the new name official. Last month, KEA held an extraordinary general meeting where it resolved to change the institution's name and to merge its affiliated research institute, the Korea Economic Research Institute (KERI), into the organization.

KEA appointed former Ambassador to Indonesia Kim Chang-beom to the previously vacant full-time Vice Chairman position. KEA stated, “The new Vice Chairman Kim is an ideal candidate who, based on his long diplomatic career, possesses outstanding experience and knowledge on the international stage and will play a significant role in assisting Chairman Ryu Jin in transforming the Korea Economic Association into a global think tank.” Since joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1981 (15th Foreign Service Examination), Vice Chairman Kim has served as Protocol Secretary to the President’s Office, Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union, and Ambassador to Indonesia.
