Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Park Hee-young) will hold a 'Chuseok Holiday Event' at five traditional markets in the area from the 18th to the 28th of this month, before Chuseok. Various events such as payback by giving Onnuri gift certificates when purchasing over a certain amount at each market and prize giveaways through raffle tickets will be held.
The purpose is to revitalize traditional markets and ease the burden on residents preparing for the Chuseok holiday amid ongoing high inflation. This event will take place at five traditional markets in the area: Huam Market, Sinheung Market, Ichon Market, Yongmun Market, and Malli Market.
Huam, Sinheung, and Ichon Markets will hold events for three days from the 25th to the 27th. If you bring your purchase receipt to the merchants' association office, you can receive an Onnuri gift certificate worth 5,000 KRW for purchases over 30,000 KRW and 10,000 KRW for purchases over 50,000 KRW. At Ichon Market, gift certificate exchanges are available at Changjo Interior.
Yongmun Market will hold events from the 24th to the 26th at the alley event booth. If you bring your purchase receipt, you will receive an Onnuri gift certificate worth 5,000 KRW for purchases over 30,000 KRW, and for purchases under 30,000 KRW, you can participate in a roulette draw to win various prizes such as ramen and tissue. Gift certificate exchanges are available at the event booth in front of Hyochang Kyunghee Korean Medicine Clinic.
Malli Market will run a raffle from the 18th to the 22nd by filling out entry tickets placed at each store. After the draw at 6 p.m. on the 22nd, exchange vouchers worth about 20,000 KRW will be distributed starting on the 23rd. Winners can check their status at the market’s main gate on the 23rd, and they can draw their exchange vouchers from the prize box located in the central aisle and use them at the respective stores.
In particular, on the 15th at 3 p.m., the district internet broadcasting station conducted a live broadcast of the Chuseok traditional market event on the main street of Yongmun Market. To celebrate the Chuseok holiday, the local traditional markets were introduced via YouTube Live, and a 'Traditional Market Quiz' event was held for viewers to participate. Sixteen types of prizes, including Korean beef, fruits, and traditional Korean confectionery sets sold at the traditional markets, were given to encourage residents to join the event.
Additionally, on the 21st, the district will operate 'Employee Traditional Market Day' for the Chuseok holiday. Employees from the district office, community service centers, and the facility management corporation will visit their assigned traditional markets to shop and have meals.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “This traditional market event was prepared to increase sales during the Chuseok holiday and reduce the burden of grocery prices for ordinary citizens. We ask for active participation so that it can help revitalize the local commercial district and stabilize the livelihood economy.”
