What Types of Gyeongnam Tumuli Became Korea's 16th World Heritage Site?
Seven Gaya Tumuli, including five in Gyeongnam Province, have become Korea's 16th World Heritage site.
In Gyeongnam, this is the fourth designation following Haeinsa Janggyeong Panjeon in 1995, Tongdosa Temple in 2018, and Namgye Seowon in 2019.
The 45th World Heritage Committee held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, decided on the inscription of the Gaya Tumuli as a World Heritage site on the 17th.

The Gaya Tumuli under review this time include five sites in Gyeongnam: ▲ Gimhae Daeseongdong Tumuli ▲ Haman Malsisan Tumuli ▲ Changnyeong Gyodong and Songhyeon-dong Tumuli ▲ Goseong Songhakdong Tumuli ▲ Hapcheon Okjeon Tumuli, as well as two sites: Jisan-dong Tumuli in Goryeong, Gyeongbuk, and Yugok-ri and Durak-ri Tumuli in Namwon, Jeonbuk, totaling seven sites.
