Gyeongnam Police Agency Sends 105 Election Crime Suspects and Arrests 5 in Union Chief Election
The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 14th that it had booked 181 election-related offenders in connection with the 3rd Nationwide Simultaneous Cooperative Association Head Election held last March, handed over 105 of them to the prosecution, and among them, 5 were detained.
According to the Provincial Police Agency, a total of 97 cases were detected in this cooperative association head election, with 128 suspects involved in providing money and entertainment, accounting for 70.7% of the total.
Following that were 34 cases of false information disclosure and candidate defamation, 17 cases of violations of election campaign methods such as premature campaigning, and 2 other cases.

View original imageAmong them, including those detained on charges of handing cash to cooperative members to appeal for support for a specific candidate, 80 people who provided money and entertainment, 17 who disclosed false information or defamed candidates, and 8 who violated election campaign methods, totaling 105 people, were sent to the prosecution.
A representative of the Provincial Police Agency said, "We will continue to strictly deal with entrusted election offenders according to the law and principles," and added, "Regarding the 22nd National Assembly election to be held in April next year, we will thoroughly crack down on illegal acts such as providing money and gifts under the pretext of holiday greetings around Chuseok."
