Kim Idong Appointed as Deputy Head of Samjeong KPMG Financial Advisory Division
Recognized for Expertise and Performance, Youngest Division Head Appointed
Organizational Restructuring Aligned with Field-Centered and Service Expertise Expansion Strategy
Samjong KPMG announced on the 14th that it has reorganized its Deal Advisory division into a young organization looking ahead to the next 10 years while actively responding to rapidly changing future circumstances, appointing Kim Idong as the head of the Deal Advisory division.
Deputy CEO Kim Idong is a leading M&A expert in the industry. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Seoul National University, he joined Samjong KPMG in 2000. He served as the head of the Information and Communication Business Division and the Samjong Investment Advisory Division within the Audit Department, and since 2015, he has been leading five divisions within the Deal Advisory department, delivering outstanding results. Since 2021, he has also served as the leader of the industry-first ‘M&A Center,’ which gathers collective intelligence from M&A experts to support the sustainable growth of Korean companies.
Notably, Kim was promoted to Deputy CEO in 2021 and within two years was appointed as the head of the Deal Advisory division. Samjong KPMG explained, “He was recognized for his exceptional expertise and work performance, and due to his excellent collaboration and communication skills, he was appointed as the youngest division head.”
Samjong KPMG expanded and reorganized the Deal Advisory division in line with its organizational strategy of ‘field-oriented’ operations and ‘expanding service expertise.’ The structure was broadened from seven divisions to ten, including divisions specializing in real estate, due diligence, and services for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies, creating more specialized service divisions. Samjong KPMG stated, “We appointed top experts recognized by clients and the market as division heads, and at the same time placed young division heads at the forefront to reorganize into an innovative organization looking ahead to the next 10 years.”
Among the ten divisions, eight newly established divisions provide services centered on financial due diligence (TS), led by Deputy CEO Kim Jinwon, a TS expert who has conducted corporate due diligence at Samjong KPMG for 20 years. The ninth division specializes in advisory services not only for SMEs and mid-sized companies but also for startups, with Park Younggeol, a former McKinsey consultant, appointed as the division head. The tenth division consolidates real estate advisory expertise to provide total services across all real estate sectors. Jin Hyungseok, a real estate finance expert who previously worked at real estate advisory firm CBRE and led the real estate advisory team at Samjong KPMG, was appointed as the leader.
Yang Jinhyeok was appointed as the head of the second division, specializing in business restructuring, corporate restructuring, and corporate rehabilitation advisory. Yang is known as an expert in bank workout due diligence and non-performing loan sales advisory. The fifth division, responsible for SME, mid-cap deals, is led by Won Jeongjun. Won is recognized as an M&A expert with international experience, having worked at KPMG Boston and KPMG Kazakhstan.
To maximize synergy between divisions through a matrix organization, Samjong KPMG appointed Deputy CEO Ha Byeongje as the head of the M&A Center and Deputy CEO Kim Gwangseok as the Market Leader. They plan to swiftly grasp client needs, domestic and international market environments, and industry changes to lead the direction of M&A advisory services.
Kim Kyotae, Chairman of Samjong KPMG, said, “We announced this personnel and organizational restructuring to proactively respond to the rapidly changing market environment and focus on enhancing trust from the market and companies,” emphasizing, “Even amid global uncertainties and a challenging economic environment, we will become a dynamic professional organization that presents growth and sustainable value to corporate clients.”
Kim Idong, head of Samjong KPMG’s Deal Advisory division, stated, “The Deal Advisory division at Samjong KPMG is an organization of over 700 experts covering all sectors of the Korean economy, including M&A, due diligence, valuation, restructuring, and real estate. I will serve as a ‘conductor’ to unite their intelligence and wisdom,” adding, “Based on this, we will solve various client concerns and become a trusted partner that can be a true source of strength.”
