Naming of 158,000-ton Crude Oil Tanker 'Sonangol Jinga Bandeho'
At the ship naming ceremony hosted by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, a subsidiary of HD Hyundai, the First Lady of Angola attracted attention by attending the event.
According to Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, on the 12th, at the quay within the yard, a naming ceremony was held for a 158,000-ton crude oil tanker ordered from SONANGOL, based in Angola, attended by President Shin Hyun-dae and Ana Afonso Dias Lourenco, the First Lady of Angola, along with other officials, celebrating the birth of the vessel and wishing for its safe navigation.

View original imageThe event proceeded in the order of naming, champagne breaking, tape cutting, ship horn demonstration, and onboard tour. The vessel was named the ‘SONANGOL NJINGA MBANDE’ after the queen who ruled southwestern Africa in the 17th century and resisted the Portuguese Empire’s colonial rule.
The ship has specifications of 269 meters in length, 48 meters in width, and 23 meters in depth, and is equipped with a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system to reduce nitrogen oxides, enabling compliance with environmental regulations.
