Sancheong-gun Surpasses 100 Million Won in Hometown Love Contributions... Exceeds This Year's Target Amount
1,300 Participants Join Hometown Love Donation Program
Donation funds for the Hometown Love Donation Program in Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, have surpassed 100 million KRW, exceeding the target amount.
According to Sancheong-gun on the 12th, the donation amount exceeded 100 million KRW just eight months after the implementation of the Hometown Love Donation Program.
As of the end of August, the total amount raised was 106 million KRW, with 1,300 people participating in the Hometown Love Donation Program.
With this, Sancheong-gun achieved the goal of exceeding the donation target of 100 million KRW.
By region, donors included 1,018 people (76%) from Gyeongnam, 161 people (12%) from Jeonnam, 49 people (3%) from Busan, 27 people (2%) from Seoul, and 26 people (2%) from Gyeonggi, with the Gyeongnam area having the highest number.
By age group, people in their 50s and 40s accounted for the largest shares at 30% and 22%, respectively, while donors aged 60 to 70 and above also made up a significant portion.
By amount, 712 donors, accounting for 53% of the total, donated 100,000 KRW, which qualifies for a full tax credit, and the overall average donation amount was 80,000 KRW.
The donation program began in January with Han Dong-seok, former head of the Nonghyup Sancheong-gun branch, followed by Jung Hyun-sook, CEO of Sinhwa Steel, and Oh Do-hwan, CEO of Sejin Industry, who all participated, with these three donating the highest amount of 5 million KRW each.
There are 12 donors who have been registered in the Sancheong-gun website’s Hall of Fame for donations exceeding 1 million KRW.
CEO Oh Do-hwan also moved the local community by donating the return gifts (worth about 1.5 million KRW) back to Sancheong-gun.
In particular, County Governor Lee Seung-hwa supported the mutual development of sister cities by delivering hometown love donation funds to Yuseong-gu, Daejeon Metropolitan City, through the Hometown Love Donation Certification Challenge held in March.
So far, Sancheong-gun has made efforts to establish a sound donation culture by signing business agreements with sister cities and related organizations such as Yeongam-gun, Sancheong-gun Nonghyup, and Sancheong Forestry Cooperative to build a cooperative system for the successful settlement of the Hometown Love Donation Program.
Through the return gifts provided to donors, Sancheong-gun is creating new momentum in the region by expanding sales channels for local specialties and attracting more visitors through tourism products.
The return gifts include mileage from the San-encheong Shopping Mall, which hosts about 600 items from 174 farms, admission tickets to the 2023 Sancheong World Traditional Medicine Anti-Aging Expo, and Sancheong Love Gift Certificates.
Governor Lee said, “The heartfelt support from across the country for Sancheong has led to exceeding this year’s target amount. With this support, I hope many people will show interest and participate in the 2023 Sancheong World Traditional Medicine Anti-Aging Expo, held from the 15th of this month to October 19th in the Donguibogam Village area.”
Meanwhile, the Hometown Love Donation Program is a system where individuals can donate to regions other than their registered address (up to 5 million KRW) and receive tax credit benefits along with return gifts.
