National Namdo Gugak Center Presents Comprehensive Music and Dance Performance 'Feast of Gugak'

The National Namdo Gugak Center will present a comprehensive performance of music, dance, and singing titled "Feast of Gugak" at 3 p.m. on the 16th in the Grand Theater Jinakdang (Jindo, Jeollanam-do).

According to the Gugak Center on the 11th, this performance will begin with "Daechwita," a piece played during royal processions in the palace, followed by the short song "Honamga," which sings the names of various towns in the Honam region. The show will also feature Samulnori "Utdari Pungmul Garak," the stylish Hallyangmu dance performed wearing a gat and dopo while holding a fan, folk songs, Odolttoki, Dungdanggaetaryeong, Ieodosanara, and Ongheya.

Additionally, the newly created piece "Pusal," based on the Pusal rhythm of Gyeonggi-do shamanistic music, and the lively Buk drum rhythm of Seohanwoo style "Beokku Dance" are prepared. We hope everyone can enjoy the joyful melodies of the National Namdo Gugak Center's Gugak Ensemble and make the autumn season, the season of abundant harvests, even richer.

Meanwhile, a new exhibition space has been created this year in the lobby of Jinakdang (performance hall). This space offers an exhibition of traditional Korean musical instruments using cutting-edge IT technology, engaging immersive exhibition content, and the experience of listening to Gugak instrument sound sources. Visitors can enjoy the performance, exhibition, and hands-on experiences all in one place free of charge.

The performance is free of charge, and a free shuttle bus service will be provided before and after the performance between Jindo town and the Gugak Center. Additionally, a performance stamp coupon event will be held until December for visitors to the venue, offering small souvenirs to participants.
