According to the Korea Tourism Organization, the number of domestic camping users is expected to increase from 5.34 million in 2020 to 7 million this year. The size of the domestic camping industry, as announced by the Korea Trade Statistics Promotion Institute, is also expected to grow from 4 trillion won in 2020 to 7 trillion won this year. Autumn is considered the peak season for the camping industry due to its climatic characteristics. Over the past five years (2018?2022), about 30% of Lotte Department Store’s camping goods sales occurred intensively during the autumn season (September to November).
From the 14th to the 24th, Lotte Department Store will showcase a unique camping pop-up in the Atrium Plaza on the 1st floor of Jamsil Lotte World Mall, in collaboration with premium outdoor brand Snow Peak and global electronics brand LG Electronics. They explained that they have prepared content that satisfies customers’ camping preferences, from space composition to products and events.
About half of the entire pop-up space, approximately 395㎡ (about 120 pyeong), will be dedicated to experiential content. In the experience zone, designed using various camping products from Snow Peak, visitors can enjoy 'Bulmyeong' (staring blankly at a fire), music listening, OTT (over-the-top) video service viewing, gaming, and karaoke using LG Electronics’ newly released portable screen 'LG StanbyME Go.' In addition to tents, a dedicated space for 'chabak' (car camping) where visitors can stay overnight in their cars is also set up, allowing indirect experience of various camping styles. Photo zones for taking certification shots are arranged throughout the area, and a photo booth that prints photos on the spot is also operated.
Products and promotions exclusive to the pop-up are also prepared. Notably, the 2023 Fall/Winter (F/W) new clothing products, scheduled to be sold in regular Snow Peak stores starting in October, will be previewed early with up to 20% discount promotions. Starting from the weekend, set products composed of popular camping items such as table lantern sets, table burner sets, fire pit torch sets, and chair sets will be sequentially unveiled and sold at a 12% discounted price. The 'IGT line,' a modular camping product that can be customized according to personal preferences and has caused a sold-out frenzy with great popularity, will also be secured exclusively in limited quantities. Additionally, camping recommended items from Snow Peak and LG Electronics will be sold.

From the 15th, customer participation events will also be held. Customers who purchase Snow Peak products worth more than 150,000 won at the pop-up will have a chance to win prizes such as the Snow Peak Landlock Tent and LG StanbyME Go through an on-site lucky draw event. Visitors who upload certification shots on their personal social networking services (SNS) after visiting the pop-up will receive gifts such as socks and passport cases, limited to the first 50 people each day.
