Boseong-gun, Promotion of Regional Plus Job Project
Recruiting Farms for Job Programs in the Autumn Harvest Season
Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will actively promote the ‘2023 Regional Plus Job Project’ to resolve labor shortages in the agricultural sector during the autumn harvest season in September.
The ‘Regional Plus Job Project’ is a customized support program by the Ministry of Employment and Labor that relaxes support conditions or raises support levels in connection with central government job projects according to regional and industrial characteristics such as employment status and labor demand.
This project was prepared to alleviate labor shortages by discovering and matching job seekers from urban areas with farms and agro-food manufacturing companies located in Boseong-gun, which suffer from chronic labor shortages, and to create stable rural job conditions.
Boseong-gun secured 240 million KRW in national and provincial funds after being selected for the ‘Jeollanam-do Regional Win-Win Rural Job Support Project’ last June, and plans to address labor shortages of local farms cultivating rice, field crops, fruit trees, and specialty crops, as well as agricultural cooperatives and agro-food companies.
The Jeollanam-do Job and Economic Promotion Agency plans to connect farms in need of labor with job seekers residing outside the area who apply for jobs but do not have a resident registration address in Boseong-gun, supporting the attraction of rural labor.
Boseong-gun is continuously promoting the project through village chief meetings, business visit explanations, banner postings, and village chief newsletters, and will strengthen publicity to help many local farmers and agro-food companies with labor supply.
A representative of Boseong-gun said, “We expect that the Regional Plus Job Project will alleviate labor shortages for local farms and have a positive effect on the local job market, including stabilizing labor costs.”
