Fire on Fishing Boat off Jeju Aewol Port Sinks While Being Towed... 4 Crew Members Rescued
Jeju Maritime Police Station (Chief So Byung-yong) announced on the 8th that a fishing boat fire that occurred around 7.5 km northwest of Aewol Port at 7:19 PM the previous day sank at sea while being towed to Aewol Port using a patrol vessel after extinguishing the fire.
A ship fire occurred in the northwest sea of Aewol Port, Jeju, and the Jeju Coast Guard is extinguishing it.

Upon receiving the report, Jeju Maritime Police immediately dispatched rescue forces to the scene, rescuing all four crew members?two each from the patrol vessel and fishing boat B operating nearby. There were no health issues, so no hospital transfer was necessary.
At 12:10 AM that day, after completing fire extinguishing operations, the Jeju Maritime Police started towing the fire-damaged vessel with a pollution control boat and was entering Aewol Port when the vessel completely sank about 1 km northeast of Aewol Port at 1:19 AM.
Jeju Maritime Police are currently checking for marine pollution near the sinking site and the severed towline. Based on the statement of the captain of vessel A, who said the fire started due to sparks generated during work preparations, they plan to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
