Government to Host 'K-Content Expo' in the US and Mexico
Support for Domestic Content Companies to Develop Export Channels
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will consecutively hold the 'K-Contents Expo' in Mexico and the United States to accelerate the entry of K-contents into North and Latin America. This is a content fair focused on business-to-business exchanges that supports domestic content companies in pioneering export channels. It aims to broaden the horizon of the content export market and spread the appeal of K-contents.
According to the '2022 Overseas Content Market Analysis' released by the Korea Creative Content Agency, the size of the U.S. content market in 2021 was $979.8 billion, making it the largest in the world. Mexico ranks fourteenth, but its expected average annual growth rate over six years from 2021 (6.63%) is higher than the global content market (5.19%). The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated, "We expect that the K-Contents Expo will accelerate the entry of K-contents into the Americas region and strengthen exchange and cooperation in the content sector."
The Mexico event will be held from the 11th to the 14th at the Hilton Reforma Hotel in Mexico City, and the U.S. event will take place from the 18th to the 20th at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. Seventeen domestic content companies will participate in content investment attraction presentations (pitching), one-on-one export consultations, business-to-business exchange meetings, and workshops visiting local content companies (Mexico's Televisa Univision and TV Azteca, U.S.'s Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros.). Forty companies from Peru, Chile, Argentina, and other countries will participate as buyers in the former, and forty companies from the U.S., Canada, and others will participate as buyers in the latter.

New York (U.S.) and Mexico City (Mexico) are also the regions where overseas business centers for content will be established this year. Overseas business centers serve as bases for the advancement of the K-content industry. They provide domestic content companies with information, marketing, business connections, and infrastructure support. Currently, they operate in twenty regions and will be added in five more regions within the year.
