70 Busan Vocational High School Students Undergo On-Site Training in Australia and Singapore
Scheduled for Local Employment After Program Completion
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will send 70 vocational high school students to Australia and Singapore for a 12-week "Global Field Learning" program starting from the 11th.
Since its launch in 2010, the Global Field Learning program has aimed to develop the global vocational competencies of vocational high school students and nurture professional talents with international competitiveness.
This year, a total of 70 students will be dispatched, with 40 going to Australia and 30 to Singapore, making it the largest scale operation nationwide.
The dispatched students were finally selected through evaluations including document screening, native speaker interviews and aptitude tests, in-depth interviews, and group activity assessments since May. These students completed a four-week intensive domestic training and safety education with native speakers at Busan Global Village starting from July 24.
They will then depart for Australia and Singapore on the 11th. Students dispatched to Australia will participate in a 12-week local education program consisting of 5 weeks of language training, 4 weeks of technical training for major specialization, and 3 weeks of on-site training at local companies.
Students dispatched to Singapore will complete a 12-week program including 11 weeks of language training and technical training for major specialization, and 1 week of on-site training at local companies. These students plan to seek employment locally afterward.
Four teachers per country will also be dispatched along with the students. They will support the students' local adaptation and program participation, establish communication channels between parents and school officials, and ensure the safe operation of the global field learning program.
Before the full-scale field learning begins, the Busan Office of Education will hold the "2023 Vocational High School Global Field Learning Send-off Ceremony" at 4 p.m. on the 8th in the international conference room of the annex building of the Office of Education. Seventy students dispatched to Australia and Singapore, along with school administrators, are expected to attend.
Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, "Global Field Learning has become a stage for vocational high school students to realize their dreams and capabilities. I hope you prioritize your safety and health, and take pride in representing not only Busan but also the Republic of Korea as you do your best in everything."
