Tesla to Install 20,000 Electric Vehicle Chargers at 2,000 Hilton Hotels in North America
Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla will install 20,000 electric vehicle (EV) chargers at 2,000 Hilton hotels across the United States, Canada, and Mexico starting next year.
On the 7th (local time), Tesla and Hilton announced plans to build this EV charging network. Accordingly, Tesla's chargers, including the 'Universal Wall Connector,' which is compatible with all EV models beyond just Tesla vehicles, will be installed at 2,000 Hilton hotels in the North American region. This is the largest scale of EV charger installation in the hotel industry.
For Tesla, which is aiming to set the North American industry standard, this is expected to be an opportunity to further strengthen its dominance in the EV charging sector. Hilton hotels also see this as a chance to meet the rapidly growing demand for EV charging among hotel guests and to attract EV travelers.
Matt Schillo, Hilton's Chief Brand Officer, told CNBC, "EV charging, which was not even in the top hotel search keywords a few years ago, has risen to second place. It's a dramatic change," adding, "Through cooperation with Tesla, we will be able to meet customer demands." Hilton plans to identify the most suitable locations for installing EV charging stations and begin full-scale installation starting next year.
