Gwangju Nam-gu Opens Energy Hub Center in Bangnim 2-dong
Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 7th that the Energy Hub Center opening ceremony was held on the 5th in Bangnim 2-dong.
The opening of the Bangnim 2-dong Energy Hub Center is a project aimed at creating a pilot village for the Gwangju-type energy transition in 2023. The Gwangju city government supported the project with 80 million KRW necessary for establishing the hub center.
Residents here plan to carry out various activities based on the Bangnim 2-dong Energy Hub Center, including education and promotional projects to address climate change issues as well as village-specialized projects.
In particular, amid the rising concern over the climate crisis, they plan to make every effort to build an eco-friendly energy system that reduces energy resource consumption without harming the environment.
With this, Nam-gu, where a total of three energy hub centers have been established, started with the opening of the first Penguin Village Energy Transition Hub Center in Yangnim-dong in 2021, followed by the Photo Transition Village Energy Hub Center in 2022, and the Bangnim 2-dong Energy Hub Center in 2023.
Currently, residents of Yangnim-dong are focusing on the Energy Hub Center to train village energy transition instructors, operate energy tours for tourists, and reduce electricity usage by installing solar panels on the roofs of the hub center and Penguin School.
Additionally, residents of Sajik-dong are engaging in diverse activities such as training energy diagnosticians and resource circulation counselors, street cultural performances with acoustic guitars linked to global issues, and making eco-bags using discarded banners and broken umbrellas.
