Yoo Seung-min: "Presidential Close Aide Running Won't Help Ruling Party's Victory in Seoul Metropolitan Area"
"If the Lee Jae-myung Regime Collapses, the People Power Party is Dead"
With the next general election approaching, rumors are circulating about cabinet members and aides from the Yongsan Presidential Office running for office, but former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min expressed a critical view, saying, "It won't be much help to the People Power Party, especially in winning the Seoul metropolitan area."
On the 7th, Yoo said on KBS's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strong Current Affairs,' "How will the public perceive those people? It will look like a large number of mere henchmen of power are coming out," expressing this view.
In political circles, there are rumors that the Presidential Office will undergo a 'reorganization for the general election' after Chuseok. Many expect that Kang Seung-gyu, Chief of Civil Society, and Kim Eun-hye, Chief of Public Relations, will run in next year's general election.
However, former lawmaker Yoo said, "Those people can run, but to fight the general election with those people? To send out a large number of the president's closest aides to run in the general election? Do you think that can be a winning strategy for the People Power Party, especially in the Seoul metropolitan area? I think not at all," adding, "To win in the metropolitan area now, we need many new figures who can respond to the growing centrist and independent voters' sentiment, and also address issues like low birth rates, population problems, and livelihood issues that our politics should solve."
In response to the host's question, "Won't the public sentiment be revealed in the upcoming by-election for the Gangseo District Mayor in October?" Yoo said, "It's not easy to judge based on just the Gangseo District Mayor election," adding, "There will be a kind of mid-term judgment of President Yoon Suk-yeol's popularity in Seoul, but if the People Power Party wins by fielding a problematic candidate, it is likely that the party will continue on its current path," expressing concern.

He continued, "Suppose the Democratic Party loses. Would Lee Jae-myung (Democratic Party) be able to stay on? Then, change could occur within the Democratic Party," adding, "If Lee's leadership collapses and the Democratic Party begins reform and innovation, from that point on, the People Power Party should consider itself as good as dead."
