"There Is a Better Part-Time Job," He Said Before Sexual Assault... Repeat Exam Student Victim Took Extreme Measures
A Repeater Student Looking for a Part-Time Job
Enticement to a Variant Sex Trade Establishment and Crime
A man in his 30s who took a teenage repeat exam student, who came for a part-time job interview at a study cafe, to a disguised prostitution establishment and sexually assaulted her has been sent to the prosecution in custody.
On the 6th, the Saha Police Station in Busan arrested Mr. A (in his 30s) on charges including sexual assault and prostitution mediation by abuse of authority, violation of the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles Against Sexual Abuse, and violation of the Employment Security Act, and handed him over to the prosecution.
According to the police, Mr. A posted an advertisement seeking part-time workers for a study cafe on an online job recruitment site in April, and sexually assaulted Ms. B (19), a repeat exam student who came after seeing the post.
Mr. A pretended to be affiliated with the study cafe. He called Ms. B to a study cafe in Jin-gu, Busan, saying he would conduct an interview.
During the interview, he suggested a part-time job at a disguised prostitution establishment called a 'Kiss Bang,' saying, "There is an easier and better job."
Then, Mr. A immediately took Ms. B to a disguised prostitution establishment in the adjacent building and sexually assaulted her under the pretext of "practicing."
Ms. B, who was trying to earn pocket money through part-time work during her repeat exam period to ease her family's financial burden, suffered great psychological shock and distress after becoming a victim of sexual violence. About 20 days after the incident, Ms. B took her own life.
Initially, Mr. A had no connection with the study cafe, and the police suspect that his intention was to lure people seeking part-time jobs at study cafes to disguised prostitution establishments and commit crimes.
The police, who started the investigation based on a report from the bereaved family, proved Mr. A's charges such as sexual assault by abuse of authority through communication records and witness testimonies, but it was difficult to apply the charge of rape due to the absence of a sexual assault victim's statement.
However, during the investigation, the police uncovered that Mr. A had been mediating prostitution for a considerable period using similar methods. The police are investigating, believing there may be more victims of sexual violence besides Ms. B.
The police also booked two men in their 30s, owners of disguised prostitution establishments who received minor part-time workers introduced by Mr. A, without detention on charges including violation of the Employment Security Act.
It was also confirmed that the owners of the disguised prostitution establishments registered as telecommunications service providers and operated illegally under the guise of other businesses.
