'September Mock Exam' Math Similar Level to June Mock Exam... Question Arrangement Changed
EBS "Very Similar to June Mock Exam"
Jongno Academy "Secures Differentiation for Upper-Mid Tier"
Etus Edu "Question Order May Cause Confusion"
The mathematics section of the September mock test for the 2024 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) was analyzed by the admissions industry to be at a similar level to the June mock test. Although no high-difficulty questions were included, there were changes such as the rearrangement of existing question types.
At 12:10 PM on the 6th, the second session mathematics exam of the September mock test for the 2024 CSAT, administered by the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation (KICE), concluded. On the same day, the Educational Broadcasting System (EBS) provided an analysis of the test trends, including difficulty by session, together with on-site teachers.
EBS summarized the difficulty of the mathematics section by stating, "It is analyzed to have been set at a level similar to the June mock test this year and the 2023 CSAT." EBS explained, "The composition is very similar to the June mock test this year, and based on the content and level of the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum, questions of various difficulty levels were evenly distributed. Questions measuring understanding and application of basic concepts, reasoning through given situations to solve problems, and analytical and exploratory thinking abilities were all evenly included."
They added, "So-called 'killer questions' were excluded while including questions with high discriminative power to maintain an appropriate difficulty level." The EBS linkage rate was 50% (15 out of 30 questions).
Private academies also evaluated the difficulty as moderate. Jongno Academy stated in their analysis after the exam, "Problems combining three or more mathematical concepts, high-level approaches, and problems utilizing university-level concepts appear to have been excluded from the test," and assessed, "Overall difficulty is somewhat easier or similar compared to the June mock test." However, they noted, "There were some questions with somewhat complex calculation processes during problem-solving," and "discriminative power for the mid-to-high level was strengthened."
Etus Edu also evaluated, "It was set slightly easier than last year's CSAT and this year's June mock test," and added, "Although the questions were arranged differently, which may cause confusion, the difficulty of the questions themselves was not high."

Regarding specific questions, EBS expected relatively high discriminative power for question 14 in Mathematics I, question 22 in Mathematics II among the common subjects, and question 30 in Probability and Statistics, Calculus, and Geometry among the elective subjects. Jongno Academy also anticipated difficulty in questions 13 and 14, Probability and Statistics question 30, Geometry question 28, and Plane Vectors question 30. Etus Edu evaluated question 14 as being difficult.
