Kim Jung-tae, chairman of the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA), encouraged Park In-bee, who is challenging for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Athletes' Commission as a representative of Korea.

View original imageThe KLPGA stated, "Chairman Kim sincerely supports Park In-bee's challenge for the IOC Athletes' Commission, who has led the KLPGA and elevated the dignity of Korean women's golf to the world." Chairman Kim remarked, "Park In-bee, who has achieved one KLPGA Tour win, 21 LPGA Tour wins, a career Grand Slam, and the gold medal in women's golf at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, if elected as an Athletes' Commission member at the upcoming Paris Olympics, will become the first Korean female IOC Athletes' Commission member and the first Athletes' Commission member produced by Korean women's golf," emphasizing its significance.
Chairman Kim presented a framed collection of support messages personally written by players active on the KLPGA Tour such as Ahn Sun-joo, Jang Ha-na, Choi Eun-woo, Lim Hee-jung, and Sung Yu-jin, as well as Kim A-rim and Shin Ji-eun, who recently returned to Korea to participate in the Hanwha Classic last week. After posting the support messages on her social media (SNS), Park In-bee expressed her gratitude, saying, "A precious gift from the junior players. It gives me more strength than anything else. Thank you."
Chairman Kim added, "The KLPGA will do its best to help Park In-bee's challenge for the IOC Athletes' Commission shine," and offered words of encouragement, "We hope many fans who love golf will also send their support and encouragement for Park In-bee's journey."

Park In-bee was selected as the final candidate for the IOC Korean Athletes' Commission on the 14th of last month. She won the competition against Jin Jong-oh (shooting), Kim Yeon-koung (volleyball), Lee Dae-hoon (taekwondo), and Kim So-young (badminton). The IOC reviews candidates recommended by each country to select the final Athletes' Commission candidates. The IOC Athletes' Commission members are elected by direct voting of Olympic athletes. To become an IOC Athletes' Commission member, a candidate must rank among the top four in the vote at the Paris Olympics, which will conclude on August 11 next year.
