With October 2nd designated as a temporary holiday, extending the holiday period to six days, a momentum for economic recovery has been created. Therefore, companies and the economic sector will launch this campaign to ensure everyone enjoys a happy Chuseok."
First, they decided to encourage employees to take domestic autumn trips during the holiday period. They will introduce lesser-known domestic tourist destinations, local specialties, popular restaurants, and excellent accommodations to support employees’ regional cultural experiences and consumption. They also announced plans to actively purchase domestic agricultural, livestock, and fishery products as corporate gifts for the holiday.
To support small business owners such as traditional markets and neighborhood marts, they will actively purchase agricultural, livestock, and fishery product gift certificates and traditional market Onnuri gift certificates, and use them for employee welfare and support for marginalized groups. To reduce traffic congestion, revitalize the local economy, and save energy, they will encourage the use of public transportation for hometown visits and domestic travel whenever possible.
Menus using domestic agricultural, livestock, and fishery products will also be increased in corporate cafeterias. Employees will be guided to actively participate in the government-promoted 'Hometown Love Donation Program.'
The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry plans to visit the Noryangjin Fish Market to encourage small business owners and promote the purchase of domestic products. Through the SME welfare platform, they will support small and medium enterprises in purchasing domestic agricultural, livestock, and fishery products at reasonable prices.
The Korea Employers Federation plans to encourage companies to actively participate in purchasing agricultural, livestock, and fishery products and promoting domestic travel together with 78 member organizations of economic councils, including 15 regional employers federations. The Federation of Korean Industries will promote activities with its member companies to encourage the use of domestic agricultural and fishery products and foster win-win cooperation with small and medium enterprises.
The Korea International Trade Association will promote the campaign through the country’s largest outdoor advertising facilities and conduct activities to encourage the purchase of agricultural, livestock, and fishery products via online and offline channels and university student ambassadors. The Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business will donate Chuseok food kits made with domestic agricultural, livestock, and fishery products to about 40,000 people, including Korean War veterans and marginalized groups, and encourage its member companies to purchase these products as Chuseok gifts.
The Korea Association of Mid-sized Companies plans to encourage its members to promote the use of annual leave by employees, encourage domestic travel, and send domestic agricultural, livestock, and fishery products as holiday gifts through traditional markets and neighborhood marts.
