Mokpo City Hall Hockey Team Donates 13 Million KRW to National Sports Festival Athletes
City Designates 15 Million KRW for Ungok Scholarship to Support Low-Income University Students
Mokpo City in Jeollanam-do announced that Mokpo New Port Operation Co., Ltd. has made designated donations of sponsorship funds and scholarships to Mokpo City for the national sports festival athletes and low-income university students.
On the 4th, Mokpo New Port Operation Co., Ltd. made a designated donation of 13 million KRW in sponsorship funds to the Mokpo City Sports Council to support the Mokpo City Hall hockey team and the Mokpo City athletes participating in the national sports festival.

View original imageThe sponsorship of the Mokpo City Hall hockey team by Mokpo New Port Operation has continued for three years.
The sponsorship fund delivery ceremony held at Mokpo City Hall was attended by Park Hong-ryul, Mayor of Mokpo; Yeo Jong-gu, CEO of Mokpo New Port Operation; Kim Seong-dae, Chairman of the Mokpo City Sports Council; and Bae Sang-ho, coach of the Mokpo City Hall hockey team.
The sponsorship funds received that day will be delivered through the Mokpo City Sports Council to the Mokpo City Hall hockey team and the Mokpo City athletes participating in the national sports festival, and will be used for purchasing training equipment for the athletes.
Additionally, on the same day, Mokpo New Port Operation made a designated donation of 15 million KRW in Ungok Scholarship funds to the city for low-income university students. The donation was made through the Mokpo Welfare Foundation.
The Ungok (雲谷) Scholarship is operated to honor the will of the late Jeong In-young, honorary chairman and founder of the Halla Group, for nurturing talent, to reduce the financial burden of low-income students, and to support the dreams of local students.
Since 2019, Mokpo New Port Operation Co., Ltd. has donated a total of 60 million KRW in Ungok Scholarship funds, 15 million KRW annually, to low-income students in the city, serving as a model of continuous sharing practice.
CEO Yeo Jong-gu said, “I hope this can be of even small help to athletes challenging their dreams under difficult circumstances and to low-income university students in the region,” and added, “Mokpo New Port Operation will take the lead to help them grow into outstanding talents who will drive regional development.”
Mayor Park Hong-ryul said, “Through the strong support of Mokpo New Port Operation, I expect that our city’s athletes and university students will gain great strength and become a great light shining on the region.”
