On this day, pianist Kim Dohyun, the Mapo Cultural Foundation's Artist of the Year, will take the stage to offer a romantic time.
Kim Dohyun will perform Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 "Moonlight," Debussy's "Clair de Lune," the third piece of the Bergamasque Suite, Chopin's Nocturne No. 2, Erik Satie's Gymnop?die No. 1, and Tchaikovsky's pieces No. 3 and 15 from his 18 pieces, all under the theme "A Letter to the Moon."
Additionally, he will perform a concert suite for piano arranged by Mikhail Pletnev from Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker."
Pianist Kim Dohyun is the inaugural artist of the 'M Artist' system newly introduced by the Mapo Cultural Foundation this year. Having gained attention as a rising performer by winning second place and the best performance award for contemporary works at the 2021 Busoni International Piano Competition, Kim Dohyun was selected as an 'M Artist' this year and will meet audiences through four performances. 'Moon Sonata' is the second of these performances and Kim Dohyun's first outdoor concert.
A representative of the Mapo Cultural Foundation said, "Sangam-dong World Cup Park in Mapo-gu is a picturesque urban space where a lake and forest blend, rarely found in the city." They added, "This performance at the special waterside stage in the park's UNICEF Plaza will create a fantastic harmony between the beautiful space and piano melodies, providing comfort to citizens weary from their busy daily lives."
