Attorney Kim Jeong-min: "Colonel Park Jeong-hoon, It's VIP-related, so would they have fought without a recording?"

"Colonel Park Knew of Presidential Intervention and Started the Fight"
"Military Prosecution's Warrant Request Shows Impatience"
Amid the rejection of the arrest warrant for Colonel Park Jeong-hoon, former head of the Marine Corps investigation unit, who was indicted on charges including insubordination while investigating the death of the late Corporal Chae, Park's legal representative, lawyer Kim Jeong-min, expressed that it was a "very natural and common-sense result." He also speculated that Park might possess direct evidence such as recordings related to allegations of pressure from the Presidential Office.
In an interview on June 4th with CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' lawyer Kim said after the decision to reject the arrest warrant, "It was a natural outcome," adding, "Colonel Park shed tears, and I felt sad that such a natural result had to be accepted with such difficulty, even though we won."
Regarding the military prosecution's request for a pre-arrest warrant, Kim stated, "It reflects the impatience of the person leading this investigation," and added, "It seems that their impatience stems from the belief that if Colonel Park is not detained, they have no chance of winning."
On the suspicion that the Presidential Office intervened in the investigation of Corporal Chae's case, he explained, "Objective circumstances are emerging," and elaborated, "Immediately after the forced transfer of the investigation results on August 2nd, all the National Security Office personnel became aware of it. The National Security Office chief, the defense secretary, and even the second deputy director of the National Security Office hurried back from an overseas trip and directly called the Marine Corps commander."
He continued, "According to their own statements, the National Security Office had no reason to be interested in the transfer, but just because the transfer was forced, the fact that the National Security Office chief was directly informed is a very strange circumstance."
Lawyer Kim also said, "Colonel Park knew from the beginning that the president was involved and started this fight. Before starting such a big battle, isn't it common sense to prepare your weapons thoroughly?" He added, "The essential weapons were recordings related to pressure from the legal affairs officer and recordings where the Marine Corps commander mentioned the president. They should have fought with these two, otherwise, wouldn't that be naive?"
In other words, Kim suggested that Colonel Park might have direct evidence regarding the allegations of pressure. However, Kim added, "I have not secured anything so far. I do not know whether he or other related parties have them."
In an interview on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' on the same day, lawyer Kim commented on reports that President Yoon Seok-yeol is considering simultaneously replacing the second deputy director of the National Security Office and the defense secretary, saying, "He has never admitted any involvement or wrongdoing by Yongsan in this matter, but indirectly admitting it and asking the public for forgiveness? If that is his true intention, it would be much more effective to be honest."

Regarding the possibility of the military prosecution reapplying for an arrest warrant, he criticized it as "a crazy act." He emphasized, "The way for the military prosecution to survive is to quickly conclude this investigation and participate in the pressure investigation. That is the public's order."
