Anyang City Supports Installation of Signage for Fair Trade Product Retailers
Anyang City in Gyeonggi Province is supporting the installation of signs at fair trade product sales locations within the city to raise public awareness of fair trade products.
Anyang City announced on the 4th that it will carry out the sign installation support project until December 29.
When a business applies to the city for sign installation, the city’s Fair Trade Committee, composed of experts such as city council members and university professors, will deliberate and award the signs.
Fair trade refers to ethical trade that protects the rights of producers and workers in economically disadvantaged developing countries and supports sustainable development by paying fair wages for producers' labor while providing better products to consumers.
Since being certified as a Fair Trade City in October 2021, Anyang City has been actively promoting the consumption and distribution of fair trade products and revitalizing fair trade by producing signs for fair trade product sales locations and attaching them to 12 places as its first project.
This year, as the certification period (2 years) expires, the city is conducting various projects to pursue re-certification, including ▲formation and operation of the Fair Trade Committee ▲securing fair trade sales locations within the city ▲certification of fair trade practice institutions (communities) ▲fair trade education and campaigns.
