President Yoon Suk-yeol will attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Group of Twenty (G20) summits from the 5th of next month for a 5-night, 7-day schedule. In particular, as the chair country of the Korea-China-Japan summit, he plans to attend the 'ASEAN+3 Summit' to discuss ways to revitalize trilateral cooperation.
Kim Tae-hyo, the First Deputy Director of the National Security Office, held a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the afternoon of the 31st to reveal President Yoon's upcoming itinerary. First, from the 5th to the 8th of next month, President Yoon will visit Jakarta, Indonesia, to attend ASEAN-related summits. Starting with a dinner meeting with overseas Koreans, on the 6th, he will attend the Korea-ASEAN Summit to review the current status of practical cooperation between Korea and ASEAN.
Attendance at the 'ASEAN+3 Summit' is also planned. Deputy Director Kim explained, "Korea is the chair country of the Korea-Japan-China summit and serves as the coordinating country representing Korea, Japan, and China in ASEAN Plus Three." He added, "At this summit, President Yoon will discuss how to activate cooperation between ASEAN and Korea, Japan, and China to realize the vision of an East Asian community and emphasize the necessity of cooperation."
Additionally, on the 7th of next month, he will attend the East Asia Summit (EAS). This is a strategic forum where leaders from 18 countries in East Asia gather to discuss major regional and international security issues. President Yoon plans to express his stance on regional issues, including the North Korean nuclear problem, and international issues, emphasizing Korea's contributions to establishing an international order based on international norms.
On the same day, he will attend the Korea-Indonesia Business Roundtable jointly hosted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. About 40 CEOs from major Korean companies, including Chung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group; Koo Kwang-mo, Chairman of LG Group; Shin Dong-bin, Chairman of Lotte Group; and Koo Ja-eun, Chairman of LS Group, will participate in the business roundtable.
On the 8th, President Yoon will hold the 'Korea-Indonesia Summit' with Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. The two leaders will hold a signing ceremony for key cooperation documents and officially announce the agreements through a joint press release.
That afternoon, President Yoon will move to New Delhi, India, to prepare for the G20 summit. This will be President Yoon's second time attending the G20 summit. Deputy Director Kim stated, "At this meeting, President Yoon will emphasize Korea's concrete contribution plans to overcome climate change, one of the most important issues in the international community." Accordingly, on the 9th, he will attend the first session of the G20 summit themed 'One Earth' and the second session themed 'One Family,' followed by a dinner hosted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi that evening.
Meetings with business leaders are also scheduled in India. Bilateral talks are expected with leaders from countries including the host India, Spain, Argentina, and Mauritius. Deputy Director Kim added, "Some meetings may take place after the G20 closing."

Meanwhile, with Chinese President Xi Jinping expected to attend the G20, attention is focused on whether a Korea-China summit will be held. However, a presidential office official explained, "Although the Chinese president has attended the G20 in the past, we have not yet been informed about which Chinese leader will attend or which events they will participate in this time." He added, "Depending on who China sends, discussions may take place, or they may be postponed to the next multilateral meeting opportunity."
