A Man in His 50s Caught Red-Handed Wielding a Weapon at Gwangmyeong Station
The Seoul Regional Railroad Police under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that at around 8:18 a.m. on the 31st, a suspect wielding a weapon was arrested on the spot by railroad police in front of the ticket office on the west side of Gwangmyeong Station.
The arrested individual, Mr. A (male, in his 50s), without any apparent reason, took out a weapon (a scraper, a cleaning tool used to remove substances like gum from the floor) from a cart used by a cleaner inside Gwangmyeong Station and swung it at two passengers, causing injuries. He is currently under investigation by the Seoul Regional Railroad Police on charges of special assault.
Two people sustained minor injuries from the weapon Mr. A wielded, and all of them received emergency treatment from 119 before returning home.
Upon receiving the report of the weapon attack, the railroad police immediately dispatched officers who subdued Mr. A at the scene while he was injuring passengers with the weapon and arrested him on the spot.
