Prosecutors Indict Two Authors of False Posts Claiming "Hyun Joo-yeop Was a Victim of School Violence"
False posts claiming that broadcaster and former basketball player Hyun Joo-yeop was a victim of school violence during his school days have been brought to criminal trial.
On the 30th, the Criminal Division 3 of the Seongnam Branch of Suwon District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Yoo Min-jong) announced that two individuals, including A, were indicted without detention on charges of violating the Information and Communications Network Act (defamation).
Earlier, A and others were charged with writing false posts in March 2021 on an online community, claiming to be juniors who played sports at the same school as Hyun, stating that "Hyun physically assaulted a junior at school in the past." It was investigated that A and others committed this crime with the intention of obtaining settlement money.
