The newly completed road is a major connecting route between Wahyeon-ri and Punggye-ri, where the road was narrow and deteriorated, and residents had continuously requested improvements.
Previously, the city first opened a 2.3 km extension of the first section connecting Ihwang-ri and Wahyeon-ri in October 2015, and then started construction in August 2020 on the 3.37 km undeveloped section between Wahyeon-ri and Punggye-ri, which has now been opened. The project involved compensation costs of 3.5 billion KRW and construction costs of 8.6 billion KRW.
