Drone Threat? Ask Korea... LIG Nex1 Participates in 'Korea-Saudi Drone Roadshow'
Middle East's Top Security Agency Introduces 'Anti-Drone' Technology
Global defense company LIG Nex1 flew to the Middle East to showcase its ‘anti-drone’ system and strategy to security agencies of Middle Eastern countries.
On the 30th, LIG Nex1 announced that it participated in the ‘Korea-Saudi Arabia Drone Roadshow’ held on the 28th at the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS) in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
NAUSS is an academic institution under the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Interior, established in 1978, directly affiliated with the Arab Interior Ministers Council. It serves as a cooperative body among Arab countries in crime prevention and as a training institution for government security experts across the Arab region.
The event was hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Saudi Arabia, and organized by the Aviation Safety Technology Institute.
Last November, NAUSS requested the participation of the Korean drone delegation in the ‘Saudi NAUSS International Drone Workshop,’ creating an opportunity to introduce Korea’s drone industry policies, systems, and overall technological capabilities.
The delegation consisted of seven companies including LIG Nex1, four public institutions centered on the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Aviation Safety Technology Institute, Korea Transportation Safety Authority, National Fire Agency, and Korean National Police University), and one association (Korea Drone Soccer Association).
The NAUSS International Drone Workshop is a conference aimed at sharing drone public safety technologies and experiences from Arab countries and advanced drone nations in response to crimes and terrorism arising from drone technology development.
The event was held over three days with nine sessions. On the second day, the 29th, Kim Kang-min, a researcher from the Cyber Electronic Warfare Development Team 2 of LIG Nex1, gave a presentation titled ‘Drone Threats and Response Systems in Korea’ during Session 6.
Additionally, through consultation meetings, LIG Nex1 explained the anti-drone systems and services currently utilized by Korean public institutions and critical national facilities.
Previously, LIG Nex1 achieved success by signing a contract with Korea Airports Corporation for the ‘Purchase and Installation of Illegal Drone Detection Equipment at Gimpo International Airport.’ Based on such achievements, the company focused on demonstrating its proven technological capabilities to the participants.

It functions similarly to a joint graduate school with participation from over 20 major Arab countries including the UAE, Jordan, Syria, Qatar, and Yemen, and receives full financial and administrative support from Saudi Arabia.
The event also included participants from the Malaysian Ministry of Interior, U.S. academic circles, Interpol, and Chinese public security. These participants are mid-level managers or key executives involved in decision-making within their respective countries’ military, police, and government agencies, providing companies like LIG Nex1 with opportunities to build efficient networks and access potential key clients.
