Shinsegae Department Store Gyeonggi Branch is launching initiatives to attract child customers.
Shinsegae Gyeonggi Branch announced on the 30th that starting from the 2nd of next month, it will introduce various family-oriented contents, including a type of flea market called 'Car Boot Sale' and a children's genre discount event called 'Gold Kids Weekend.'
The reason Shinsegae Gyeonggi Branch is focusing on attracting child customers is due to the high sales proportion of the children's genre. This year, the children's genre sales proportion at the Gyeonggi Branch is about six times higher than that of the main branch. Among all Shinsegae Department Store locations in the metropolitan area, it has the highest sales proportion in the children's genre. Shinsegae Gyeonggi Branch plans to strengthen efforts to attract family customers by offering various experiential events involving children.
On the 2nd of next month, the Car Boot Sale will be held together with child sellers. 'Car Boot' is a British term referring to a car's trunk. The event originates from a flea market where people load unused items from their homes into their car boots and share them with neighbors.
Children participating as sellers were selected through a pre-application process, with the first 60 teams (including guardians) chosen on a first-come, first-served basis. The recruitment announcement was closed within 10 minutes due to high customer interest. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the outdoor parking lot on the 13th floor.
Through the Car Boot Sale, children can learn the basic concepts of economics by directly selling and purchasing items. The sales proceeds will be donated to the Gyeonggi Social Welfare Community Chest and distributed to low-income children in Yongin City. It is expected that children will also learn the value of sharing through this experience.
Customers participating as sellers in the Car Boot Sale will receive a set of seven coupon packs. Character helium balloons will also be given on a first-come, first-served basis. The seven coupon packs include a 10,000 KRW discount coupon for food and beverage (F&B), a face painting voucher, and a calligraphy voucher, among others.
A 6-meter large full moon installation will be set up on the outdoor terrace on the 2nd floor for a month ahead of Chuseok, allowing the whole family to create memorable photos together.
