Starting from the 30th, 'Ddokbus' Operation in Gam-il and Wirye, Hanam City
The new concept transportation service 'Ddokbus,' which allows passengers to board at their desired time and place and travel to their desired destination, will begin operating in Gam-il and Wirye, Hanam, Gyeonggi Province.
Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation announced on the 29th that after a pilot operation of Ddokbus in the Gam-il and Wirye districts starting on the 30th of this month, official service will commence on the 6th of next month.
The vehicles are 13-seat Hyundai Solati models, with three buses each in the Gam-il and Wirye districts, totaling six buses operating daily from 6:30 AM to 12:30 AM.
Ddokbus is a unique brand of the Gyeonggi Province demand-responsive transport (DRT) system, meaning "a smartly moving bus."
Ddokbus is a public transportation service that flexibly transports passengers in response to calls in transportation-vulnerable areas such as new towns or rural fishing villages. It offers the advantage of providing transportation services tailored to local traffic conditions by operating differently depending on the region.
The Hanam Ddokbus service covers the Gam-il and Wirye areas and nearby Seoul subway stations. In the Gam-il district, it operates to Olympic Park Station, Geoyeo Station, Macheon Station, and Macheon Market, while in the Wirye district, it serves Jangji Station, Bokjeong Station, Geoyeo Station, and Macheon Station. Passengers can travel within the Gam-il and Wirye areas or to nearby Seoul subway stations, with particularly high demand expected during commuting hours.
Passengers can call and pay for Ddokbus through the integrated transportation platform app 'Ddokta,' operated by the Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation. When passengers enter their desired departure and arrival points in the app, it provides real-time guidance on the boarding location and boarding and alighting times based on the nearest operating Ddokbus vehicle.
Passengers board the Ddokbus at the designated boarding point and expected boarding time. If passengers with similar routes book at the same time, an automatic detour route is created for shared rides. The fare is 1,450 KRW, and integrated metropolitan area transfer discounts apply when using transportation cards.
Previously, under the plan to expand Ddokbus, Gyeonggi Province has been operating 78 buses in seven cities and counties since March this year, with a cumulative ridership of 660,000.
Following Hanam, Gyeonggi Province plans to sequentially introduce Ddokbus in Anseong, Paju, and Icheon within this year. Notably, Paju Unjeong has been a pilot area for Ddokbus since December 2021, and due to increased demand, five additional buses will be added.

Um Gi-man, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Metropolitan Transportation Policy Division, stated, "Through the operation of Hanam Ddokbus, residents of Gam-il and Wirye will receive better transportation services. We plan to continuously expand the operation of Ddokbus, a customized transportation service, throughout the province to assist residents experiencing inconvenience due to insufficient public transportation."
