Jongno-gu 'House of the Painter, Park Nosu Art Museum' Publication Commemorative Book Talk
On the 2nd, art historian Song Hee-kyung leads the first session, and on the 9th, illustrator Lee So-young leads the second session.
Jongno-gu (District Mayor Jeong Munheon) will hold a book talk program commemorating the publication of "The Painter's House, Park Nosu Art Museum" at Sangchonjae and Park Nosu Art Museum on September 2 and 9.
The event is designed to provide a special opportunity with the author and illustrator to help citizens gain a deeper understanding of Korean painting as well as the works of painter Park Nosu, and to enjoy culture and the arts.
The first book talk on September 2 will be led by Song Heekyung, an art historian and visiting professor at Ewha Womans University, and the second session on September 9 will be led by artist Lee Soyoung, who was selected as this year’s illustrator at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.
The book talks will take place at Sangchonjae from 4 PM to 5 PM. After the book talk, participants will have time to tour the 10th anniversary special exhibition "Brush Life - Park Nosu’s Modern Times" at the Park Nosu Art Museum with a professional guide.
The exhibition focuses on the painter’s 1970s and 1980s works, highlighting his continuous experimentation with tradition to pioneer a new painting style. It is also meaningful that "Ryuhah," which received the most votes in the online poll for "Park Nosu Art Museum Collections You Want to See," will be on display.
Those wishing to participate can apply via the Jongno Cultural Foundation website or by phone to the Park Nosu Art Museum. For citizens who find it difficult to attend in person, the program will also be held online simultaneously. Offline sessions are limited to 20 participants per session, while online participation has no limit.
Participation in the book talk is free, but museum admission fees and book purchases are separate. For more details, please contact the Jongno-gu Park Nosu Art Museum.
The "Jongno-gu Park Nosu Art Museum" opened in September 2013, based on the house and garden cultivated by the Korean art master Namjeong Park Nosu, who lived there for over 40 years, along with his works and various collections.
Starting with the opening exhibition "Moon and Boy," the museum has held numerous special exhibitions and has welcomed over 405,000 visitors to date. Going forward, the district plans to continuously offer various special exhibitions, children’s art education linked to exhibitions, and special lectures by invited experts for both Jongno residents and art lovers.
