'Mugshot' Trump Boasts Golf Skills: "Won with a Score of 67"
"Did They Really Pay for All 18 Holes?" Golf Fans Doubt
Trump Says "Scores Are Low, But It's Not Rigged"
Donald Trump, the former U.S. president who was the first in history to have a 'mugshot' taken, has posted about his golf skills and is now facing criticism from netizens.
According to the New York Post on the 27th (local time), Trump announced his weekend golf tournament victory via social media the day before.
He revealed that he scored 67 strokes in a senior tournament for those over 50 held at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, which he owns. Trump is well known as a 'golf enthusiast.'
He emphasized, "The score might look a bit low, but there is nothing suspicious about it." Trump stated, "Many people were watching me during the tournament, and I was surrounded by bodyguards," adding, "It was impossible to do anything else." He claimed that the 67 strokes, a score usually achieved by professional players, was entirely due to his own skill.
Finally, he added, "I am good at sports and golf, and I have won many golf tournaments before," saying, "It is always a great honor."
However, netizens expressed disbelief at Trump's claims. One X (formerly Twitter) user said, "If it was 67 strokes, he probably played only 12 holes, not all 18," adding, "I find it hard to understand that anyone believes his words." Another X user sarcastically asked, "Has Trump ever won a tournament at a golf course he doesn't own?"
The New York Post reported that this is not the first time Trump's golf scores have stirred public controversy.
Meanwhile, Trump became the first current or former U.S. president to receive the dishonor of having a mugshot taken. He was assigned the inmate number 'P01135809,' recorded as 6 feet 3 inches (190 cm) tall and weighing 215 pounds (97.5 kg). His hair color was noted as strawberry or blonde.
