"Only Japan Doesn't Get Radioactive Rain? Study More," Kim Yuna Criticizes Jeong Yura in 'RIP Earth'
Criticism of Kim Yuna Continues Across Various Circles After Facebook Post Saying "Study More"
Kim Yoon-ah, the vocalist of the band Jaurim, has sparked ongoing controversy after publicly criticizing Japan's Fukushima contaminated water (referred to by the Japanese government as 'treated water') ocean discharge. Jung Yoo-ra, the daughter of Choi Seo-won (formerly Choi Soon-sil), also raised her voice against Kim Yoon-ah, saying, "Aren't you ashamed? Study a bit."
On the 27th, Jung captured and posted on Facebook Kim Yoon-ah's post on X (formerly Twitter) that read "RIP 地球 (Earth)" and questioned, "Is it because I only graduated middle school that I don't understand? Does Japan not live on Earth?" and "If you say RIP Earth, then where do Japanese people live?"

Jung continued, "Are Japanese people collectively immune to radiation or something?" and criticized, "If you only listen to (Kim Yoon-ah), it sounds like everyone is going to die, but when you can't even answer this simple question and just say 'I don't know, anyway, ocean pollution is Japan's war crime,' is that enough?"
She added, "When a country takes any action, it should be for the benefit of its citizens, so what possible benefit could there be for Japan to discharge contaminated water that pollutes the Earth into the sea in front of their own country?" and "Don't Japanese people eat fish? Doesn't it rain in Japan?"
Kim Yuna also posted an image depicting the water cycle process on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "Middle school science, the water cycle. The issue of marine pollution is not limited to whether we can eat fish and gim (seaweed)." She argued, "By focusing on fish, the worst marine pollution disaster is diminished to a mere issue of side dish selection."

Jung criticized further, "You should study, join the International Atomic Energy Agency, bring research results, and oppose it. Isn't it embarrassing for someone who last studied science in high school to say 'I don't know, anyway, it's true' to someone who has studied science their whole life?"
Earlier, on the 24th, Kim Yoon-ah posted an image on Instagram with the words "RIP 地球 (Earth)" and wrote, "I have been engulfed in anger for several days." She described, "The dystopian movie scene of Blade Runner +4 years is beginning to become reality. The radioactive rain never stops, and the light does not reach the movie-like landscape of LA," and criticized Japan's contaminated water discharge, saying, "On a day like today, I think about hell."
Kim Yoon-ah also posted on X (formerly Twitter) an image showing the water cycle, stating, "Middle school science, water cycle. The problem of ocean pollution is not limited to whether we can eat fish and seaweed or not," and argued, "By focusing on fish, the worst ocean pollution disaster is minimized to a mere issue of side dish choices."
As Kim Yoon-ah's opinion gained attention, former Saenuri Party (predecessor of the People Power Party) lawmaker Jeon Yeo-ok also voiced criticism. On the 25th, she wrote on her blog, "Kim Yoon-ah is furious about Fukushima's contaminated water discharge, saying 'It's hell!' but that doesn't make sense. She should have been as furious as if it were hellfire since the 2011 Fukushima accident."
Jeon also shared a 2016 broadcast where Kim Yoon-ah was seen eating herring soba at a popular restaurant in Osaka, saying, "In 2016 and 2019, Kim Yoon-ah was an amazing 'Japanese mukbanger.' Are the 2016 'Japanese mukbanger Kim Yoon-ah' and the 2023 'Fukushima hell Kim Yoon-ah' really the same person?"
