Gwangju Police Implement Comprehensive Traffic Safety Measures for Children
The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency and the Gwangju Autonomous Police Committee will implement a 'Comprehensive Child Traffic Safety Plan' from the 28th of this month to the 22nd of next month, in line with the school opening schedule.
They plan to deploy traffic police to strengthen pedestrian safety guidance, focusing on the vulnerable school commute hours for child traffic accidents, while also conducting enforcement against violations of signals, speed limits, and pedestrian protection duties.
In cooperation with local governments and related organizations, they will jointly conduct guidance and enforcement against illegal parking and stopping in child protection zones, check for non-compliance with child school bus requirements, and inspect failure to submit safe driving records.
If violations such as operating without a co-riding protector or special protection violations of child school buses (Article 51 of the Road Traffic Act) are found, on-site guidance and enforcement will also be carried out.
To create safe school routes, facilities prohibiting jaywalking, separation facilities between roadways and sidewalks, and old or damaged traffic facilities will be repaired or additionally installed.
