Lotte Mart and Lotte Super announced on the 23rd that they will exclusively launch a 1.2ℓ "Large Bottle Fresh Makgeolli" that captures both taste and cost-effectiveness.
The Large Bottle Fresh Makgeolli has 60% more volume compared to the most widely distributed 750㎖ product on the market, and its price per ㎖ is about 15% cheaper. Considering that Makgeolli, a representative traditional liquor, has recently become popular among younger generations, Lotte Mart decided to release this large-capacity product.
The Large Bottle Fresh Makgeolli is a product that maximizes the sweetness and carbonation of fresh Makgeolli. To replicate the unique sweetness of Makgeolli, it uses "enzyme-treated stevia" instead of aspartame. Enzyme-treated stevia is a natural sweetener made by adding glucose to remove the bitterness of stevia; it is over 100 times sweeter than sugar, allowing for maximized sweetness with a small amount. Accordingly, Lotte Mart and Lotte Super reduced the amount of sweetener used in the Large Bottle Fresh Makgeolli and used more rice and wheat to realize the distinctive flavor of Makgeolli.
Meanwhile, in line with the growing popularity of traditional liquors, Lotte Mart and Lotte Super are offering a variety of traditional liquors. Lotte Mart has expanded its traditional liquor lineup by 15% compared to last year to over 350 items, and Lotte Super will run a promotion in September offering a 10% discount when purchasing two bottles of "Horangi Fresh Makgeolli (750㎖)" and "Ugok Premium Saengtakju (750㎖)".
