China Opposes Strengthened South Korea-US-Japan Cooperation, Urges "No Interference in Internal Affairs"
China strongly opposed the agreement by South Korea, the United States, and Japan to strengthen economic and security cooperation at the trilateral summit held at Camp David in the United States, calling it "a violent interference in internal affairs."
On the 21st, Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a regular briefing in response to a question about China's stance on the South Korea-U.S.-Japan summit, "The leaders of the U.S., Japan, and South Korea indiscriminately attacked China over issues such as Taiwan and violently interfered in China's internal affairs."

Spokesperson Wang further emphasized, "China expresses strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to the deliberate sowing of discord between China and neighboring countries and the serious violation of the basic norms of international relations," adding, "China has already lodged stern representations with the relevant parties." The phrase "stern representations" is used diplomatically by China when protesting specific issues.
Wang also noted, "China takes note of the statement that the U.S.-Japan-South Korea partnership is not aimed at any country," and stressed, "We urge the United States to stop damaging China's image, harming China's interests, and fomenting division and confrontation that undermine regional peace and stability."
He added, "Any attempt to provoke a new Cold War in the Asia-Pacific region will face strong resistance from regional countries and peoples," and said, "We call on the relevant countries not to go against the trend of the times, not to attempt bloc confrontation, and not to pursue their own interests at the expense of other countries' strategic security interests and the welfare of regional peoples."
Regarding the Taiwan issue, he stated, "The Taiwan issue is purely an internal affair of China, and resolving the Taiwan issue is China's own business," asserting, "No one should underestimate the strong determination, firm will, and powerful capability of the Chinese people to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity."
