Sexual Harassment Victim DJ Soda Reports 3 Japanese Audience Members for 'Obscene Acts'
"Sex Crimes Will Never Be Tolerated"
Japanese Police Focus Investigation on Videos
The local organizer that hosted DJ Soda's performance in Japan has filed a complaint against three audience members on charges of sexual harassment. Previously, DJ Soda had revealed that she was sexually harassed by some audience members during her performance in Japan.
On the 21st (local time), according to local media such as Japan's Kyodo News, the Japanese organizer responsible for the performance, 'Try Hard Japan,' filed a complaint with the Osaka local police against two unnamed men and one woman for "non-consensual obscene acts" and assault charges.
The police, having received the complaint, are reportedly planning to conduct an investigation focusing on videos recorded at the scene.
The controversial performance took place on the 13th in Osaka, Japan. After the performance, DJ Soda posted photos taken at the moment she was sexually harassed on her personal social media account.
The next day, she appealed on SNS, saying, "Not just one, but several people suddenly touched my body, and I was helplessly sexually harassed," adding, "I am still very scared."
In response, Try Hard Japan posted a statement on their official website, expressing regret that such an incident occurred at an event marking its 10th year and stating, "We will provide maximum support to DJ Soda, who was victimized."
They continued, "There are videos of the crime scene taken from various angles," and demanded that the audience members who committed the sexual harassment either turn themselves in to the police station or contact the organizers directly.
According to local media, Try Hard Japan also held a press conference in Osaka on the 21st, the day the complaint was filed. The organizers reportedly reiterated, "Sexual crimes are absolutely unforgivable."
Meanwhile, following the sexual harassment incident, some Japanese netizens reportedly left secondary victimization messages against DJ Soda, sparking controversy. Hiroyuki Morita, a famous director who created the Japanese animation 'The Cat Returns,' also caused a stir by claiming, "The sexual violence that DJ Soda alleges is like public honey trapping."
