Hotel Lotte announced on the 21st that it has published its first sustainability report on its website, detailing its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management activities and achievements.
In the environmental sector, the company aims to establish an environmental management system across all Hotel Lotte business sites by 2025. It also plans to obtain ISO14001 environmental management system certification for all domestic business sites. To this end, it has built an internal data system related to waste generation and enhanced the audit process. The company plans to expand the use of eco-friendly packaging materials, discover upcycling target products, and promote the purchase of eco-friendly products. Additionally, efforts are underway to realize Lotte Group’s ‘2040 Carbon Neutrality’ goal.
In the social sector, the report includes strategies and achievements related to creating a good workplace, respecting diversity, win-win cooperation, and social contribution. Notably, it is the first in the industry to publish a human rights management report. The report covers five key issues: △ safety and health △ work-life balance △ discrimination △ labor rights protection △ prevention and response to sexual harassment and sexual violence. Previously, Hotel Lotte recognized the necessity of a human rights management policy and has pursued human rights management since October 2022 by establishing such a policy through corporate integration.
In the governance sector, the company plans to continue efforts to strengthen the board of directors’ leadership in sustainable management. In the customer value sector, it aims to become the company that offers the most sustainable products and services in the industry by 2025 by expanding sustainable products by more than 10% and continuously increasing business sites applying universal design for the disabled and elderly.
This report is characterized by the introduction of a double materiality assessment that analyzes and considers both the impact of external environmental and social factors on corporate management activities and the impact of the company on the external environment. Through surveys and interviews with stakeholders, seven materiality issues were selected: △ strengthening workplace safety and health management & enhancing customer safety within facilities △ strengthening compliance and ethical management & risk prevention and management △ practicing human rights management & prohibiting discrimination and respecting diversity among members △ expanding the provision of sustainable products and services. The report includes key strategies and achievements for each area.
